Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS MICROCHIPPING
Microchipping is a quick, safe and permanent method of identifying your pet. A tiny chip, about the size of a grain of rice is implanted under the skin between your pet's shoulder blades. This chip contains a unique number linked to your contact details in the NSW Pet Registry. Microchips can be scanned by a Vet or Rescue Service to ensure your pet is returned home.
DO I STILL NEED TO REGISTER MY PET WITH COUNCIL?
YES. Microchipping is the first step. You must complete lifetime registration on the NSW Pet Registry. This is a separate requirement in NSW.
CAN I BATH MY PET AFTER MICROCHIPPING?
Please wait 24 hours before bathing your pet to allow the microchip site to settle and reduce the risk of infection.
DO YOU OFFER VACCINATION?
NO - We only provide microchipping. Vaccinations must be administered by a licensed veterinarian, who will also perform a general health check.
IS MICROCHIPPING PAINFUL
FOR MY PET
The procedure is similar to a vaccination, however the needle is a little thicker. The procedure is over in seconds and most pets only experience minor discomfort.
CAN YOU UPDATE OWNERSHIP OR REGISTRATION DETAILS FOR ME?
We upload your pet's microchip details to the NSW Pet Registry, but only the owner can complete or update registration details. If your pet is rehomed, it is your responsibility to ensure ownership is transferred to the new owner - otherwise you may still be held legally responsible and you, rather than the new owner will be contacted rather than the VET or Animal Shelter. CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP IS TO BE COMPLETED BY YOU AS SOON AS A PET IS REHOMED.
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
We are a mobile microchipping service based in Windsor NSW. We travel to your home for convenient, stress free appointments.
